Birds Head, Indonesia – Greatest Marine Biodiversity In The World?

It's long been known that Indonesia has the greatest number of marine species living within its waters than anywhere else in the world - and now scientists reckon they've identified the specific place which is home to the most species.

Researchers from Conservation International claim to have found what may be "the epicenter of marine biodiversity on the planet." Situated in the Bird's Head Seascape, in the northwestern part of Indonesia's Papua province, CI's Dr. Mark Erdmann states, "We were simply blown away by what we found." Over 1200 species of fish and 600 species of coral plus sharks that walk on their fins. No, really. Divester has the complete scoop!
