A small island in central Komodo, Pengah Kecil provides some interesting ledges and slopes on its rocky walls where marine life gathers.

A steep slope that drops into a wall with several big, deep ledges carved into it which have abundant corals growing on them. The shallowest areas around 5 metres get some lovely sunrays coming through the swirling water above as it crashes around the rock.

The corals here are piled on one another, explosions of colour against the darkness of the rock.

The corals themselves are a fabulous mix of hard and soft with lots of fern like soft coral growth which sway in the breeze of the current.

There’s unconcerned turtles and the usual suspects of zebra fish, red eyes and anthias adding to the dynamic and, of course, it’s always worth checking into the blue periodically as the current sweeping past could bring some bigger visitors.
