Indonesia Quake Appeal

by Chris on May 29, 2006

Three days after the earthquake hit Java in Indonesia, the death toll keeps rising - CNN currently says it's at 5000, and sadly it will probably become much higher. Indonesia is blessed with some of the world's best scuba diving due to the rich marine biodiversity around its reefs - with over 18000 islands scattered across the Indonesian archipelago, there is a staggering amount of underwater marvels to explore. However, Indonesia is still a very poor country, and they are definitely in need of international help to cope with this nightmarish earthquake crisis.

If you'd like to make a donation, no matter how small, it will genuinely help the people in Java - they need everything from bottled water to tents to blankets at the moment, as well as medicines, medical staff and hospital equipment. Just a few dollars can look after a whole family. You can donate online at the Red Cross UK and Red Cross USA websites.
