Fears of another tsunami in Thailand are receding, but some resorts are already reporting a decline in their visitor numbers
An update on my previous post about the possibility of another tsunami in Thailand due to seismic activity in the Andaman Sea: "The National Disaster Warning Center has affirmed ...that, after additional analysis of information and the geological structure of the Andaman Sea, the center believe the frequent quakes will not cause tsunamis that may affect the lives and assets of people along Thailand's Andaman coast." [Source: Thai National News Bureau Public Relations Department]
The discussion thread on ThaiVisa.com has the full story, along with more news reports from both international wire services and Thai newspapers.
However, whilst most places along the Andaman coast remained basically unconcerned about the tsunami threat, the President of the Hotel and Tourism Business Association of Trang reports that some tourists have been cancelling bookings.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
