Santa Sofia is a 10 minute boat ride from Sogod Bay scuba resort. It’s between Max Climax and Tangka’an. The dive site famous for being home to green turtles.

The green turtles at Santa Sofia aren’t just your usual dinner plate sized turtles you see on the other dive sites. These green turtle are really big – nearly three quarters of a metre long. (Their size reminds me of Sauwandarek jetty in Indonesia’s Raja Ampat, which is also home to some impressively sized turtles).

The turtles typically like to hang out on the coral carpet in the shallows and are usually motionless unless disturbed. The turtles are shallow enough to be easily seen by snorkellers too.

From the shallows, Santa Sofia has a gentle slope down to a drop off and there are piles and piles of hard corals. There’s also some large sized elephant ear corals too.
