Kuda Giri Wreck, Maldives – image © Chris Mitchell
This is a no-name shipwreck sitting upright on the bottom of the seafloor next to the Kuda Giri pinnacle in the Maldives’ south Male atoll. It’s the idea you have in your mind’s eye of what a wreck should look like – a real ship covered in coral and fish life rather than a twisted wreck of metal.
In April 2023, 10 years after I’d last seen it, I returned to the Kuda Giri wreck on a Maldives liveaboard and got some more snaps – it was heartening to see that it was still largely intact and covered in even more marine life.
