Vietnam Diving: Hoi An

by Chris on December 15, 2005

The beautiful historic town of Hoi An is the latest scuba diving hotspot in Vietnam, providing easy access to the Cu Lao Cham Marine Park

Rainbow Divers, the biggest dive operator in Vietnam, has set up the new Hoi An operation and provide details on their website of where to find their shop and what to expect in the water. " For certified divers there is a daily dive trip to the nearby Cu Lao Cham Marine park, some 25 minutes by speedboat. The Marine Park comprises 8 islands which are home to 155 species of corals, 202 species of fish, 4 species of lobster and 84 species of mollusks."

Rainbow is based in Nha Trang, and is a great outfit - I dived with a couple of years ago when I visited Nha Trang - follow the link for my report on the diving and the town as well. I've also written about the town of Hoi An before on my other site Travelhappy, talking about the numerous tailors and artisans that you can find within its tiny, traffic-free streets and otherworldly atmosphere. For my girlfriend, it's a dream come true - diving during the day, followed by custom made clothes buying at night. There's no lack of great, charismatic restaurants in the town either. As such, I can't wait to get back to Hoi An when the season begins again next March.

Hi, i followed your suggestions and went out diving in Cham islands with Rainbow Divers: half day, 2 dives, everything ok.
in the evening i discovered Cham island Diving center, another dive shop in Hoi An, offering daily scuba diving ( same price as Rainbow but much more quality: inclusive of 2 dives , island discovery, lunch on a tropical beach and and back to Hoi An in the sunset: one of my best memory of my stay in vietnam)
They offer also overnight stay camping on a beach n the island and are the only one offering night diving.
Please get info about this dive shops : all divers , from beginners to certified will love its formula.
all the best
Van
