Olympus E330 SLR Goes Underwater
The Olympus E330 is the first digital SLR that has a live preview, as usually seen on digital compact cameras. Now Hong Kong based company 10Bar have made a special underwater housing for the E330
Willy over at Divester points to Jeff Mullins' review on Wetpixel about taking the Olympus E330 underwater. This sort of live preview is the holy grail for a lot of underwater photographers, letting them see pretty much what they're going to get before they press the button. Previously SLRs like my own Nikon D70s only let you see an image of the photo directly after you took it. Mullins' review is very positive, so it looks as if the Olympus E330 could become another contender in the underwater digital SLR market against the Nikon D70s and the Canon Cigital Rebel.
For my part, I think I'll be sticking to my Nikon for a good few more years yet, by which time the Olympus technology will no doubt have got better and spread to other brands too. Upgrading would be costly. Although the new Nikon D80 is getting rave reviews... sigh.
