A new year, a new list for where I'll be diving in Asia in 2009. I have the following tentatively scheduled, and am hoping they will all come off. I'm also hoping some interesting opportunities will come up for the June to October part of the year, which is looking decidedly empty at the moment.
January - Burma trip on the MV Jazz (17th January - a couple places still available if you want to join)
February - back to Koh Lanta with friends visiting from the UK - hope to get some dives in on Hin Daeng / Hin Muang this time and maybe see the manta rays if I'm lucky.
March - originally I was meant to be going on a once in a lifetime trip to Truk Lagoon, but sadly it got cancelled due to the global financial crisis making it hard for Expedition Fleet to fill the boat. Maybe in 2010... Have a few plans in mind for alternatives, but may simply have to stay at home and weep quietly.
May - Alor charter on the MSY Seahorse. Exploring Alor in Indonesia with a bunch of friends - so impressed with the MSY Seahorse when diving Raja Ampat last year that it was the first choice for a private charter.
I might also get a chance to go diving on Lembongan in Bali looking for mola mola again.
November - Banda Sea crossing with Dive Damai - this is a dream trip for me, heading from Spice Islands across the Banda Sea to Alor, taking in Ganung Api (the island of the sea snakes) and Luci Para atoll along the way. This will be one of the first voyages for Dive Damai, a new boutique dive operation set up by my friend Alberto
