DIVE HAPPY

The Bangkok Post has a round up of hotel and diving packages that are being offered by several of Thailand's more upmarket hotels to drum up business during the off-peak, rainy season that's currently in progress.

There's some interesting offers amongst this lot, although don't expect the diving to be up too much around Phuket and Krabi at this time of year. Similarly, the weather on Samui in October can be really grim - it's pot luck. Some days it's great, some days it's not.

Central Hotels and Resorts is offering a series of scuba dive packages in Samui, Phuket and Krabi that are inclusive of dive courses, four-night hotel accommodation, buffet breakfast, transfer between airport and hotel, fruit basket and meals.

- Central Samui Beach Resort, Surat Thani, is offering a dive course during June and from October to December priced at 25,600 baht per person, while the Central Samui Village in the same province is attracting visitors with a package that comes with a dive course, a two-day boat tour to Ko Tao island, four open water dives, transport and one lunch onboard. It is priced at 20,935 baht per person and available during the same period.

- Central Karon Village, Phuket, is offering a dive course and a two-day tour of islands around Phuket, including dives with lunch onboard. It is priced at 18,700 baht per person and available until October.

- Central Krabi Bay Resort offers a dive course and open-water dive training over two days, inclusive of lunch onboard and transfer by boat. The package costs 25,600 baht per person and is available until October.
