Hi Bjoern
thanks for mentioning Misool Eco Resort - I don't know why I forgot them! They are closed now until September I think - it's the low season for diving in Raja.

Well, the Misool Eco Resort has already open, so thats another option- but still an expensive one!
to sum it up, there are 4 Options diving Raja Empat:
-Kri and Sorido which where already mentioned by Chris
- Misool Eco Resort
- and liveabord.
Planing to go on a liveaboard i agree with Chris booking in advance.

Forget about going to Sorong and thinking about diving for one day. You just can go to this resorts,no matter which, takes you a 4/5 hrs. Boat trip and stay there for a week. Doing nothing but diving and chilling!
And be prepared to put out the big shells!

Hi Doreen
I don't think it's possible to stay in Sorong and go diving at the moment. As far as I know the only land based operations in Raja are the two owned by Max Ammer - Kri and Sorido - and they are both expensive because it's so difficult to import materials and build operations in that part of the world. It's such a remote area that there are few tourists that go there who are not on a liveaboard boat. I wouldn't recommend going to Sorong without a dive trip already booked.

hello,
we are two students from germany who would like to visit raja ampit in july/august without booking a typical tourist tour on a boat including diving. we don´t need luxury accomodation but would rather just arrive one day, see how we like it there and stay in some nice huts, probably meet some local people etc. we are not interested in luxury accomodation or anything like that, but we would love to experience the beauty of raja ampat, book some dives and contribute somehow to the conservation of the area. can you help?
cheers,
doreen and martin
