Hi Jim – how could I forget you and Terry! Great to hear from you. I am pretty sure you will love Carpe Vita too – I was on there last year and it’s a great boat and crew. Do say hello to Agnes the owner for me. You can read my review of Carpe Vita if you’re interested. I’m back on Damai in August heading to Cenderawasih Bay. Chris -you are right on with your review of the Damai My dive buddy Terry Vose and I shared that trip with you and we still can’t gert over the cabins!! The fact that you and Tim Rock were aboard were nice bonuses. Now we are following in your footsteps with a Maldives adventure – this aboard the Carpe Vita Explorere later this moth. We will detour on the way back to Sharm El Shekh.Nice website Regards Jim

thanks for the Damai report and great photos. I was on the same trip as Jackie and Beth and can only agree that she is a beautiful dive boat and guests really do get a quality experience. Stunning diving of course too.

Just a note on the size of the rooms: you mentioned that it is 100 square metres or 300 square feet. Actually, 100 square meters means 10m x 10m which is twice the size of most large hotel rooms or 1089 square feet! On the other hand; 300 square feet means the rooms are probably 15 x 20-feet or 28 square metres.
If you want real space, try out the spectacular rooms at the Sorido Bay resort;- 66 square metres ! (11m x 6m)

The Damai philosophy has definitely raised the bar for liveaboard standards by a significant level. Prior to the Damai , I would purposely seek out last minute itineraries which were only half full, so I can have the experience that Damai guarantees. The only down side is that after 2 weeks of being pampered onboard, the return to vocational reality has left me in a protracted tired and emotional state…

GR8 Review, Chris! Spot On!

It was a pleasure and an honor to share the second half of Chris’s journey with many excellent photographers and divers. The MSY Damai is truly a photographer’s Utopia; from Macro to Wide Angle and everything in between.

I’ve often said that behind every great underwater photographer is an even better dive guide. With the 3-1 max diver-guide ratio, this plays an important factor in obtaining some magnificent images. I can’t wait to return to Damai Diving!

Hi Chris, good review!

We have just been on board also and agree that Damai is a star and Alberto has done a great job. Just one thing, Some Damai trips leave from far afield – we have just done the West Papua/Triton Bay trip – truly wonderful diving.
